The Totem Pole is a unique training and resource centre in Grantham, Lincolnshire for Early Years Workers, Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Parents and Carers.

Our focus and approach to learning is ‘bottom up’, underpinned by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Our journey takes us from supporting and nurturing very young children, to them becoming confident, creative, open minded thinkers and communicators. This provides them with a skill set to approach the curriculum in school with a thirst for learning.

Training

Our training programmes and workshops have been created to meet the current challenges in Early Years. Reflecting the philosophy of Active Learning as the most effective way of learning, they provide a balance between activity, discovery, resources, information and discussion. Using a range of demonstration areas we role model Best Practice in the setting and classroom environment.

We recognise that many professionals spend their day educating and caring for children and so offer twilight and weekend programmes. We offer a unique consultancy service covering training and resource provision tailored to individual needs.

Resources

At The Totem Pole we offer a broad range of open ended resources that can be creatively used throughout settings, schools and homes, both indoors and out. Our resources support the six areas of learning from the EYFS and beyond, encouraging children to learn through real experiences.
